The final volume in a pulp novelist’s examination of ancient Arуan war culture and its modern demise under managerial social systems. The story of the Sons of Ares, of those who called themselves Warsons, exemplifying Arete, or warrior excellence, is left partially examined in hopes of rescuing the best actors of Antiquity from the vile whispers of Modernity.
For Alex who helps men magnify in this world of reduction.
“The whole generation is womanized; the masculine tone is passing out of the world; it’s a feminine, nervous, hysterical, chattering, canting age, an age of hollow phrases and false delicacy and exaggerated solicitudes and coddled sensibilities, which, if we don’t soon look out will usher in the reign of mediocrity.”

Norns of Aryas explores the evolution and eventual decline of Arуan warrior culture from antiquity to the modern managerial era. By synthesizing historical accounts of Scythian horse lords, Viking social rituals, and the fall of the Roman Empire, the text argues that ancient heroic excellence was systematically replaced by social control and commercial interests. The author critiques the Doctrine of Uniformity and modern scientific paradigms, suggesting they serve as tools for subduing the volatile, cataclysmic nature of human history. Further musings examine the Spanish conquest of Mexico and the industrialization of warfare in World War II, illustrating the displacement of individual valor by massive killing machines. Ultimately, the work serves as a lament for a lost martial identity, framing history as a struggle between sovereign warriors and the restrictive structures of "Modernity."
eBook? What exactly am I buying?

You're buying an .
epub computer file, the industry standard for e-books.
A .pdf conversion is also provided.
How do I read/open it?
Using a reader app on your computer or mobile device. On a computer, download software like
Sumatra (Windows) or
Calibre (Win/Mac/Linux) and then open the EPUB file through the program. On a smartphone or tablet, use built-in apps like
Google Play Books (Android) or
Apple Books (iOS), or download a third-party app from your app store. There are
many.
Nook and Kobo readers have direct support for EPUBs, and our releases should work on those, but has not been tested.
Amazon Kindle requires using the "Send to Kindle" service which automatically converts epubs to a Kindle-compatible format.
Method 1: Find your unique Kindle email address in the "Manage Your Content and Devices" section on Amazon's website. Email your EPUB file as an attachment to your Kindle email address.
Method 2: Go to the "Send to Kindle" page on Amazon's website.
Drag and drop your EPUB file into the browser window, or click to select it from your computer. The file will be uploaded, converted, and sent to your Kindle library.
Method 3: Calibre offers a plethora of convert-to-format options, including AZW3 and MOBI (Amazon's proprietary ebook formats).
Can't get EPUB to work. I hate it. I want a PDF!
We provide a courtesy PDF [con]version with our EPUB releases. Do note, there are many converters on the web that allow you to make your own conversion, which may suit you.
I don't like the text size and spacing in this epub.
Play with your reader. Epubs are built for reflowable text, allowing for lots of text control (zooming). You could also try a different app / device, as nearly all of them differ in how they render books.
How do you test these epubs before you release them into the wild?
I build them with Calibre and Sigil, and debug there, before Validating at:
- https://www.bookmarketing.pro/epub-validator.html
- https://www.epubconversion.com/epub-validator
I open them and pan for readability and bugs using:
- Sumatra on Windows
- Calibre on Windows
- FbReader on Windows
- Google Play Books on a Google Pixel
If I had the funds I would pick up a Nook or Kindle, and an iPhone, and do much needed testing there, but I do believe it should be readable most places. If you own a Kindle or similar e-reader, know that the free Calibre software offers lots of conversion/output settings, including For-Kindle formatting.
Do you take wampum or bitcoin?
No. But our payment processor accepts all major credit cards.
How will I receive the book?
The store uses an automated delivery system. After the Stripe transaction completes, our server will send you an email containing a link to download your book. We use the email provided during the Stripe checkout.
WHERE'S MY EMAIL !?!?
Most of our emails go through. However, some folks' mail providers will block the content thinking it is spam (some of James' titles are buzz words for internet filters). If after a few minutes you haven't received anything, EMAIL US at <store@123jameslafond.com> and we will resolve delivery. Satisfaction Guaranteed.
When I click on my product link, nothing happens, or a tab opens/disappears. Help!
Occasionally your mail provider will refuse to pop-open email links from 'untrusted' sources. Two workarounds in Windows: [Right-Click] + [Save-Link-As] or you can try [Right-Click] + [Open-In-New-Tab]. If you are using a cellular device, try navigating to your Downloads directory and searching for the file there. If you have no luck, drop us a line at <store@123jameslafond.com> and we can send the book as an attachment in an email. Works every time.
Will book(s) be available for downloading/viewing indefinitely?
No. The store encourages you to download your eBooks once you receive them. This way, any future misfortunes with our website will not impact your purchase.
Yesterday I bought a book. Today it's been upgraded / rolled into an anthology. I feel cheated.
Let us know. We'll make it right. Because of the mass of Jim's writing and our ever-fledgling efforts to publish it, we are now finding it necessary to bundle older and like-themed store titles, to keep room and stay organized. Moving forward, expect more and more bundles. We appreciate your understanding.
