There are three purposes for this session: (1) a bareknuckle fighter and BJJ instructor expressed an interest in stick fighting! (2) The youths I coached in boxing at Towson Karate got stood up by my gimp self when I could not get out of bed in July, so I owe them a free session, and, (3) the world needs a bridge between grappling and weapons, which Damien Kestle, who has fought me with stick and steel over 120 times and finished me by arm bar in a chain versus pipe fight in 2009, is uniquely qualified to span.
Venue:
Towson Karate, 8641 Loch Raven Blvd, Towson, MD, across from the Raven Inn
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Closed Door Stick/Machete
Myself, and hopefully Charles, Brickmouse, Brett &/or James, will be on hand to train a pro fighter who coaches young men and is interested in contact weapon training. I have reserved the space. This session has been paid for by myself, and is by invitation only. Our visiting coach will hopefully bring a fighter or two. Brickmouse and James will provide gear for visitors.
5:00 – 6:00 PM
Boxing session for men and youths. We will try to pair each young fellow up with an experienced fighter, who will help them drill. We will then do light sparring between the Youth/Mentor teams so each young fellow will get a chance to box and corner.
Free to Towson Karate Students and the men attending the 2 PM and/or 6 PM sessions.
6:00 – 8:00 PM
Jeet Kune Do/Agonistics Weapon Defense
James will be the predatory bad guy using documented criminal methods of offense on Damien, using dull machetes, sticks, bats, a pipe and blunt training knives as Damien provides experienced-based methods of defense: unarmed, flexible shields [such as jackets], hand umbrella, rolled magazine and a chair. Yes, a chair. James will sketch criminal approach tactics from his Violence Project survey and personal experience, and Damien will provide the answers:
