Author’s Note:
Erique Watson’s vision of the seven day demise of mankind, is rooted in the comic tradition. He left me with a set of setting rules and symptom parameters, the inspiration of which came from his work in the comic book and collectable gaming business.
Yesterday, a reader of mine, Adam Swinder, who even now toils as a janitor in the arcane art that I initiated him into during my iron-fisted reign as the Harm City Ghetto Grocer, called me up to discuss RetroGenesis. Having figured out toward the end of Retrogenesis: Day 1, Case 3 that people with certain handicaps will be more likely to survive the Retrogenesis plague than normal people, he said, “Of all the pathetically broken characters you have come up with, Archie Jones [from Soter’s Way and Rise] is your best, and, as a janitor, the closest to my heart. Since you’ve been dragging your feet writing the Janitor X sequel, I’d like to see Archie in Retrogenesis.”
Well Adam, though, as the Ghetto Grocer I reigned without pity as The Man, unconcerned with the wishes, dreams, hopes and aspirations of the driveling peasantry, as an author, I’d like to think of myself as The People’s Writer. Here it goes, a reader requested character paradrop into an ongoing serial. However, since only you and three other readers have read Soter’s Way , I can’t very well throw him into Case 4 cold, but must give him a back story moment for the benefit of the uninitiated readers.
I’ll write him into the insanity for the next installment Mobile Trash Assault Unit #2.
