Saint Mary's County is in Southern Maryland, where the first white slaves were shipped in with their catholic masters on the Ark and the Dove. The area remains well wooded and riven with slow rivers and mucky streams. Perhaps this beaver is the transmigrant soul of one of the boys who escaped from the Patapsco Iron Works? the Christmas tree farms are mostly North and West of Baltimore. Walking out to a pine tree orphanage and murdering one of the little guys in December, is thankfully no longer part of my annual routine.
