BJJ Fighter and Author Brain Hodge on the Art of Writing

Since many of our readers are writers themselves who enjoy reading posts on writing—just like fighters will watch endless footage of training sessions and sparring—I thought it only right to give you a heads up on one of my favorite writers on writing. Brian also has some fascinating fiction on the market, so check out his site too. The web address below exists as a link on our network page.
Brain is very prolific, and I’m sure part of that comes from his commitment to a martial discipline. So, for you jelly butt writers that don’t train and you knuckle heads who think you can’t write—well, because you’re a knucklehead—drop in on Brian for some ideas on putting your chosen discipline into a lifestyle context.
In Brian’s March post he discusses approaching your art—whatever it is—by way of limiting your choices and funneling your energy. This is very important as that is the traditional role of the editor, and she is not only overworked but less accessible as the self-publishing and mass publishing currents rip small accessible publishers to shreds. More and more we are becoming our own editor and Brian’s blog on the Paralysis Paradox points up an important tool for offsetting that.
