Man of the Night
Notes for Skulker Jones #1
© 2016 James LaFond
SEP/26/16
Skulker Jones is a nocturnal character. So, to sketch his urban landscape, I am walking out and about by night. Notable sights will be logged for possible inclusion and plot extrapolation:
9/26/16, 4-5 a.m.
-a red sedan, stopped at a deserted, major intersection, headlights beaming, engine running, unmoving through at least three changes of the traffic light
-a speeding mini-van, driven by a harried, bearded white man, with wide, bloodshot eyes, zooming up and down side streets, throwing newspapers out the window onto porches, sidewalks and lawns
-a 1976, black Cadillac, cruising slowly by, engine rumbling
-a late model, black Mercedes, with darkly tinted windows, sitting through a green light at a major intersection, rap music blaring from within
-three dark SUVs with tinted windows and empty cargo racks, in caravan [five feet between bumpers], cruising at 10 MPH, followed closely by a sports car with muffled engine
-not a person or animal out and about
-no uniformed police presence
