Dearest James,
Good morning. I'm grateful we could catch up last night and I'm relieved to hear that you're fairing much better than last year.
Like I mentioned, I'm really diving into fiction right now. I've read a lot of Southern Gothic recently but would like to explore other genres. Paul mentioned I should read Harold Lamb. For a "young" reader like myself what do you suggest? What are you favorite works of other authors that you frequently return to? Which of your own works is your most favorite?
I look forward to seeing you next month.
With warm regards,
Joel
Joel,
I suggest reading Robert E. Howard's stories, which can be got on some online archives:
Worms of the Earth
Black Canaan
Red Shadows
The Tower of the Elephant
Rogues in the House
Man Eaters of Zamboula
The Frost Giant's Daughter
Queen of the Black Coast
Beyond the Black River
Attached I send some Harold Lamb works I have read.
Durandel
Alexander of Macedon
Cyrus the Great
Louis L'Amour
Last of the Breed
To the Far Blue Mountains
Of My Works, in Print, which can be found on the hardback links in the site book store, i suggest:
The Last White Man [an attempt to write as an older Howard, as I am too old to write like a man in his 20s]
Cube
Haft
In paperback, with Christian themes, I like Jeth Randolph's issues, under the Casting Darts Icon on the site:
Wake Christopher
SPQR
