‘Time and Measure’
Terry Norris Slaughters John Mugabi
© 2017 James LaFond
NOV/3/17
The fight below is perhaps the best example of time and measure in late 20th century boxing. The most vulnerable aspect of Mgabi was that he was a “one punch knockout artist” which meant that he would be on balance to launch all of his weight into a given blow at any time. Terry timed that juncture and launched his weight into Mugabi with a clip left hook at 2:33-4, .
Always recall that the power hitter carries in the balls of his feet the means of his own destruction.
At 4:24-5 the waiting right cross awaits the waiting left hook and disaster sings.
