‘I Come From Dirt’
Gangland: American Gangster
© 2014 James LaFond
OCT/14/14
Of the many episodes of the History Channel series gangland, this is the one that best shows the social mechanics of classic American gang hierarchies. Frank Lucas is a nasty, bitter old man, but he explains his reasons and remains unrepentant, serving up the best quotes in this film. His rival Barnes is a more considered and urbanized person without Lucas’s hard rural edge. I would rate this as the best of what is generally a shallow and redundant series.
