‘Most Un-Christ-Like’
Conan Unchained: The Making of Conan
© 2016 James LaFond

I really enjoyed this documentary about one of the most savagely, politically incorrect movies ever made. As a Robert E. Howard purist, I always had problems with the script. But Conan the Barbarian really was a good movie, a movie that gets better and seems more realistic as ever more superhero-inspired movies fail to reach the heroic mark. What John Milus and James Earl Jones point out in their interviews, is that Conan the Barbarian is a hero movie, not a superhero movie, but something fictional that is humanly real on every level.
One thing I had forgotten was how beautiful Sandahl Bergman is. It is certainly a shame that Milus did not shoot more movies as an affliction to liberal Hollywood sensibilities.
