Manny versus Money
A Man Question From Bart

“Who ya got for the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight?”
Okay Bart, I’m not paying to see this fight. However it goes there will be a rematch. A lot of wind is being expelled over this matchup and I could care less.
Manny has never had much of a chance of beating Money for the simple fact that he is a much smaller man, and his style is less age friendly. Money avoided this—his only real test—for so many years not because he ever had a serious chance of losing, but because he did not want to look like the slow guy. If you have the money to spend check it out for the clinic it will be. It should be a pleasing action fight.
The parameters are:
1. Manny is too small to KO Money.
2. Money has bad hands and Manny has a block for a head on top of a freakishly conditioned third world body, therefore Money can’t expect to KO Manny.
The keys are:
1. Money has to keep Manny on the end of his jab, and if Manny gets through he needs to clinch up
2. Money needs to clinch up with Manny and when they separate he needs to keep him on the end of his jab
Theoretically, the Money who beat wife-beater Diego Corrales could serve up a KO to Manny like JMM did, but that’s a bit too risky for a quintessential American athlete. In my mind no combat athlete is more American in temperament than Money, who is, as his moniker implies, all about the bottom line and secondarily concerned with the other obsession of the American athlete, the perfect record, which requires minimal risk taking.
Money over Manny by close or spilt decision.
Historical Perspective
If there is a man-god in heaven with testicles still allegorically attached Manny will whoop one of the last remaining American boxing champions into retirement.
Which brings up the boxing silver lining: most weight classes in boxing are ruled by men from outside of the Sissy United States, who have come to restore honor to the fight game. If you are an American you might want to root all the harder for Money in this one, since boxing is only safe for American titlists between 147 and 160, and that window is quickly being closed by Eastern Europeans from the north and Latinos from the south. One, minded to cling to American athletic supremacy might think of Money as the Robert E. Lee of American boxing, stuck between two invading armies, one miscalculation away from being the poster child for the end of a passing martial age.
For those that are interested in the question check out my friend Jason Van Veldhuysen at his YouTube channel through the link below. He is an excellent boxing coach and will get into some particulars. Bart, I highly recommend Jason’s heavy bag training video, a free 7 minute spot on his YouTube channel.
