Heroes of the Ring
A Joint Column with Oliver
© 2017 James LaFond
FEB/26/17
Oliver at beatipaoli.org has hatched an idea for celebrating the best men of our toughest art, boxing.
When a birthday is due for a notable boxer, Oliver will note the particulars and send it to me, for titling and color commentary. We will then do a joint posting linked to each site. Look for Heroes of the Ring here on the modern combat page soon and at the link below.

James—Have you ever covered "The Iron Man" by REH?
James     Feb 27, 2017

I always wanted to read it but could only find it in a special edition that I could not afford. Deuce sent me some e-books which might have that story in it. I will review The Iron Man this year.

The Iron Man is at the Gutenberg Australia site.

This is the copy I have. Several copies available in the $2 range.

Contains an essay fragment extolling guys like Ketchel, Greb, and Jack Dempsey. Then there are a couple novellas (?) featuring Celtic-American sluggers with explosive power, extreme durability, and no interest at all in fancy stuff like jabs or footwork.
